Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 (Mariss Jansons) (CD, Br-Klassik)

The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra has already performed several concerts with Beethoven symphony cycles. The former chief conductor Mariss Jansons, who died in 2019, expanded this cycle concept in several ways: to include guest concerts in Tokyo’s Suntory Hall with its excellent acoustics, and to the presentation of the outstanding concert events in live recordings in the sound carrier market. The live recording of Symphony No. 9 was made in 2012 in the Suntory Hall of Tokyo with its spectacularly good acoustics and was very well received by the public and the trade press. Soon after the tour, the Music Pen Club Japan paid tribute to Mariss Jansons for his new, modern and transparent sounding Beethoven image. The vocal soloists are Christiane Karg, Mihoko Fujimura, Michael Schade and Michael Volle, who have already worked many times with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
