Laudate II – Baroque Music from the Duben Collection (LP, AudioNautes)

In the 1970s, the Swedish label Proprius produced a whole series of extremely realistic-sounding music recordings, which to this day are praised by audiophiles for their excellent sound quality. Laudate II, released in 1981, is the second recording for Proprius by the Uppsala Academy Chamber Choir and the Drottningholms Barockensemble conducted by conductor Anders Eby. You can hear seven pieces from the Duben Collection, the largest private collection of sheet music of compositions from the 17th and 18th centuries, which is now part of Uppsala University Library. What at first glance appears to be a niche product for musicologists was one of the label’s biggest commercial successes. The flawless technical execution of the recording in combination with accessible baroque music recorded on historical instruments guarantee 45 minutes of listening pleasure. Reason enough for Fabio Camorani to have Miles Showell (Abbey Road Studios) remaster the title from the original tapes for AudioNautes. The first 500 copies of the 180 gram 33 1/3 rpm LP will be a numbered edition. We recommend using L’Art du Son LP cleaner for wet washing your vinyl.
