Patricia Barber – Clique! (LP, Impex)

With “Clique” Patricia Barber builds on her album “Nightclub”, which is equally popular with fans and critics and on which she presents American standards. The American jazz musician, pianist and composer has made a name for herself among audiophiles with her music that ranges between poetry, jazz and art song. “Clique” is a renewed collection of standards Barber has previously only performed as an encore at concerts, including tracks by Stevie Wonder, Lee Hazlewood and Thelonious Monk. She is joined by longtime collaborators Patrick Mulcahy (bass), Jon Deitemyer (drums), Neal Alger (guitar) and Jim Gailloretto (saxophone). Grammy winner Jim Anderson was responsible for the recording in DXD, and he also did the mixing at Skywalker Sound Studios. The mastering is done by Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering). Fans call this album the best Patricia Barber album in terms of sound.
