The problem is well known and still not perfectly solved: Dirt collects on the diamond of the pickup system and this reduces its scanning ability. The more dirt and dust that accumulates, the more urgent cleaning becomes. The special brush from Martina Schoner is the ideal tool for this. It has washable white brush hairs that are just rigid enough to wipe off dirt and at the same time flexible enough not to bend the needle carrier. This works equally in the dry state as well as in the state wetted with needle cleaner. The rounded side of the brush is used to paint back to front. The beveled brush side is used to clean the diamond sideways from the left and right.
An illuminated special magnifier is recommended for the best possible visual inspection of the pickup. The LArt du Son model is made of full metal and uses two slightly offset LEDs for lighting without casting shadows. The magnifying glass with 6x magnification can be folded several times, so you can see the pickup from all sides and detect any contamination. The black anodized surface reduces irritating stray light. Two CR927 button cells are pre-installed and can be easily changed by the owner. The magnifying glass is delivered in an artificial leather case.
