The vinyl edition of the Vienna Philharmonic on Pro-Ject Audio Systems is recorded directly from the original Deutsche Grammophon and Decca tapes without any intermediate digital steps. Heinz Lichtenegger, mastermind and head of Pro-Ject Audio Systems, is not only an enthusiastic music lover in his private life. Over the years he has also become one of the most internationally convincing lawyers in the analogue world. His admiration for the Vienna Philharmonic led to the plan to reissue a series of 12 legendary recordings of the world-famous ensemble from the analogue era. The selected recordings of the Vienna Philharmonic are generally known for their high fidelity in sound – after all, Decca and then Deutsche Grammophon only allowed top-class sound masters to work with this top orchestra. With this series, Pro-Ject Audio Systems also wants to preserve the current state of the irreplaceable recordings as cultural assets for posterity.
