BLUE NOTE TONE POET EDITION: Stereo, produced by Joe Harley, completely analogue mastered from the original tapes by Kevin Gray, RTI pressing (180g), padded inner sleeve, stable tip-on gatefold (Freddie Hubbard) or single deluxe tip -On sleeve (Gil Evans). Arranger and bandleader Gil Evans had already demonstrated his brilliance on three seminal collaborations with Miles Davis – “Birth Of The Cool”, “Miles Ahead” and “Porgy And Bess” – when he performed “Great Jazz Standards” for World Pacific. In addition to standards by Thelonious Monk, Clifford Brown, John Lewis and Bix Beiderbecke, among others, he also smuggled his own composition into the repertoire, which is simply titled “Theme” here and was later renamed “La Nevada”. .
