Arvo Part – Miserere (Howard Arman) (CD, Br-Klassik)

On September 11th, 2020 the most popular contemporary composer, Arvo Pärt, celebrated his 85th birthday; Just a few months later, in May 2021, one of the world’s most renowned vocal ensembles, the Bavarian Radio Choir, is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its existence. So it makes sense to honor both special occasions with a very special release: since the recording by the Hilliard Ensemble under the direction of Paul Hillier, a professional choir has dared to produce a CD of Pärt’s masterful “Miserere”, one of the central ones, for the first time Works by Pärt. The album is complemented by half a dozen shorter and less well-known works by the Estonian composer.
