For his 26th studio album, Bob Dylan teamed up with visionary producer Daniel Lanois. After a string of less commercially successful albums, 1989’s Oh Mercy was considered the bard’s comeback. Lanois, who had recently produced U2’s Joshua Tree, lent appropriate atmosphere and warmth to Dylan’s razor-sharp lyrics. MFSL’s hybrid SACD, remastered by Rob LoVerde and Shawn R. Britton, gives Oh Mercy an added dimension, clarity and dynamics unmatched by any previous release.
Titles like Everything is Broken became classics among Dylan fans. Man in the Long Black Coat is one of the favorites, especially among hi-fi lovers. Lanois himself plays Dobro’s resonator guitar. Limited to 3,000 copies with a consecutive serial number, it comes in a mini LP cover.
