Under the star conductor Eiji Oue, who directed the orchestra from 1995 to 2002, the Minnesota Orchestra, in collaboration with Reference Recordings, recorded numerous highly acclaimed phonograms. The exciting and masterly interpretation of Stravinsky’s Spring Consecration was the orchestra’s first recording under Oue’s direction in 1996. This recording is one of the best of the famous ensemble and brought RR mastermind Keith Johnson in 1997 a Grammy nomination in HDCD format. Re-mastered in half-speed by Paul Stubblebine, this special treat is now available for every music lover as an LP with 45 rpm on 180g vinyl. 180-gram or 200-gram compression – a question that is not that easy For identical titles from Reference Recordings, there are covers labeled 180 g that contain LPs that weigh around 200 g, and vice versa. This is due to the fact that the commissioned pressing plants QRT and RTI in the USA specify a 10 percent tolerance for weight on the one hand and then occasionally simply get the orders mixed up. In terms of sound, the pressings do not differ. Please: Do not call Sieveking Sound so that someone goes out and unpacks an LP especially for you and puts it on the scales! We recommend using “LArt du Son” LP cleaner for wet washing your vinyl. New panels from high-quality production also benefit from this again.
