Fritz Reiner – Rimsky-Korsakoff: Scheherazade (2LPs, 45RPM, Analogue Productions)

This Scheherazade recording is the jewel in the crown of all RCA recordings from the golden years of stereophony. On February 8, 1960 at Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, RCA technicians made one of the label’s best classical recordings ever, with a glorious orchestra. Before the actual recording, conductor Fritz Reiner compared previous releases, evaluated orchestral playing and sound in order to come up with his idea of the ideal Scheherazade interpretation.
