After all, Handel’s most famous oratorio, Messiah, has always been the audience’s favorite piece since it was first performed in 1742! always new for enthusiasm. The three-part masterpiece depicts the life path of the anointed one (the literal meaning of the Hebrew term of the Messiah) from the proclamation to birth to death on the cross and revelation and strings together a considerable number of baroque super hits including the world-famous Hallelujah.
What makes this complete recording something special is, above all, the superbly cast interpretation with Julia Doyle, Lawrence Zazzo, Steve Davislim and Neal Davies, the Bavarian Radio Choir, under the overall direction of Peter, which has recently been described as the new center for historically informed performance practice Dijkstra accompanied by B Rock, the Belgian Baroque Orchestra Gent.
