Hanna Paulsberg Concept – Daughter Of The Sun (LP, Odin)

The Norwegian saxophonist HANNA PAULSBERG and her ensemble feat. MAGNUS BROO (ATOMIC) present on their new album an exciting mix of contemporary jazz, spiritual sounds and South African kwela / township sounds. Daughter Of The Sun will be released on CD in digipack format and as a vinyl edition on ODIN. The Norwegian tenor saxophonist HANNA PAULSBERG is one of the most renowned and versatile jazz musicians in her Scandinavian homeland. The studied artist (Trondheim Conservatory of Music) has already worked with greats such as MOTORPSYCHO, CHICK COREA, BOBO STENSON, JON BALKE or the TRONDHEIM JAZZ ORCHESTRA, is active in the formation TORSTEIN EKSPRESS and also has her own band with HANNA PAULSBERG CONCEPT, With which she completed more than 100 concerts and festival gigs in Germany and abroad and so far released the three albums Waltz For Lilli (2012), Song For Josia (2014) and Eastern Smiles (2016). PAULSBERG was awarded the Young Talent Award at the Trondheim Jazz Festival 2011 and was one of the Young Nordic Jazz Comets in the same year. On the fourth album now available, HANNA PAULSBERG and her well-rehearsed formation collaborate with the renowned Swedish trumpeter MAGNUS BROO, who is best known as a member of the acclaimed Swedish-Norwegian band ATOMIC. Under the direction of the composer and bandleader, contemporary jazz meets spiritual sounds and South African kwela / township sounds, and the influence of CHRIS MCGREGOR, DUDU PUKWANA, ABDULLAH IBRAHIM and PHAROAH SANDERS has left its mark.
