Harry Belafonte tries his hand at the blues for the first time on this 1958 recording. For someone who actually comes from jazz, this was not an easy task, but since only two of the eleven songs are really real blues and the other standards in blues garb, the result is a haunting mixture with a rare combination of elegance and earthiness in the sound . It is Belafonte’s first recording in stereo.
