Marc Knopfler – Local Hero (LP, Mobile Fidelity)

Three years after the completion of the third Dire Straits album “Making Movies”, bandleader Mark Knopfler decided to stay true to the album’s title and try to do just that in an acoustic way. The cult guitarist’s first soundtrack written and recorded for the film “Local Hero” is still considered one of the most valuable film scores of the decade. No wonder the BAFTA Award-nominated work has long eclipsed Bill Forsyth’s film in size, merit and popularity – and served as the basis for a stage musical, which premiered in Scotland in 2019.
