Ornette Coleman – Genesis of Genius: the Contemporary Albums (2LPs, Craft Recordings)

The jazz legend Ornette Coleman will be immortalized with his most important works on May 13, 2022 in a deluxe edition of the box set “Genesis of Genius”. Celebrating Contemporary Records’ 70th anniversary, the issue features his most influential albums, Something Else and Tomorrow Is The Question. The beloved and controversial saxophonist is considered one of the leading figures in the New York jazz avant-garde scene. Grammy Award-winner and music historian Ashley Kahn describes Coleman’s life’s work: “Welcome it or ridicule it, the music challenged long-held notions of what jazz like music should sound like.” The albums “Something Else” from 1958 and “Tomorrow Is The Question” from 1959, chosen for “Genesis Of Genius”, are the foundation and the starting signal for his subsequent career, with which he ushered Big Apple jazz into a new era.
