Schostakowitsch / Tschaikowksy – Symphonie Nr. 6 (Mariss Jansons) (CD, Br-Klassik)

Mariss Jansons was considered one of the most renowned interpreters of the Russian symphonic. Together with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Sixths by Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich are available as live concert recordings on CD. Jansons thus continued his recording of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony (published by BR-KLASSIK) as well as earlier award-winning complete recordings of Shostakovich’s symphonies. Jansons, who was educated in Leningrad and died in 2019, proved to be an ideal interpreter of the two sixths of this symphony CD, in addition to his extensive knowledge of the Russian symphonies through his assistantship with Yevgeny Mrawinsky, the world premiere conductor of the Sixth of Shostakovich.
