Strauss: Also Sprach Zarathustra / Burleske (Mariss Jansons) (CD, Br-Klassik)

One of the outstanding concert events in the last few years before the death of BR chief conductor Mariss Jansons was without a doubt the performance of Richard Strauss’ Piano Concerto ‘Burleske’ with none other than Daniil Trifonov as the soloist. Complemented by a wonderful performance of Strauss’ world-famous symphonic poem ‘Also sprach Zarathustra’, this jewel is now published by the BR-Klassik label. Both recordings were made in October 2017 and were captured in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residence in the usual excellent sound quality of the sound engineer of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation.
