Pure choir: The new CD presents the Bavarian Radio Choir under the direction of Peter Dijsktra a cappella – with works by Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler and Richard Wagner. Great sound paintings like ‘Isolde’s Liebestod’ or the ‘Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen’ shine in the arrangements for 16-part choir by Clytus Gottwald in a new, unheard of splendor. Due to its special tonal homogeneity and stylistic versatility, the ensemble enjoys the highest reputation all over the world. The Dutchman Peter Dijkstra, artistic director of the ensemble since 2005, is the shooting star of the choir scene and has already presented a wide range of programs in cooperation with the two orchestras of the BR.
