Tchaikovsky: Pique Dame (Mariss Jansons) (Box-Set, Br-Klassik)

Time and again in its history as a concert orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra has also dedicated itself to opera, including with such outstanding conductors as Rafael Kubelík and Leonard Bernstein. Mariss Jansons, who died in 2019, also maintains this tradition, for example with concert performances of Russian operas such as Evgenij Onegin. BR-KLASSIK will now release the 2014 live recording of the semi-staged performance from the Munich Philharmonic in Gasteig of Peter I. Tchaikovsky’s late masterpiece Pique Dame. With great connoisseurship, Mariss Jansons has put together a group of singers for the performance in the Russian original language who are very familiar with the roles of the Queen of Spades, including Misha Didyk as Hermann¸ Tatiana Serjan as Lisa and Alexey Markov as Prince Jeletzkij.
