The outlaw movement breathed new life into the stagnant country scene in the 1970s. Johnny Cash had paved the way, and musicians like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Tompall Glaser, with simple but lively arrangements, brought new impetus to the genre that had recently been lost in increasingly lifeless and unoriginal productions. Then, at the height of outlaw country, Nelson broke all expectations and produced an album: with pop standards. His interpretation of Kurt Weill, Hoagy Carmichael and Irving Berlin songs was a resounding success with five platinum awards.
This CD is part of a series of Sony Music K2 HD productions made at the instigation of the Hong Kong national company. Sony Music in Hong Kong takes its example from First Impression Music, who manage to sell their recordings at high prices in Hong Kong, which is notoriously plagued by product piracy. That’s why some enormously popular productions at Hakamata Takeshi, who as the mastering engineer is also responsible for the FIM productions, have been reworked by the JVC FLAIR Studio in Tokyo. The K2 HDs are manufactured in Japan and appear in a beautifully designed hardcover booklet in a protective slipcase with the K2HD logo. As with FIM, the CDs themselves are also protected in a fleece sleeve.
Warning – These CDs are actually remastered (K2 HD Mastering) and should not be confused with CDs available in Japan that have only been recoded (K2 HD Coding).
