Recorded and produced by frontman/guitarist Greg Gonzalez and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), the band’s new second album, Cry, blends the sensual understatedness of the debut with warmer hues. For Gonzalez, the songs on the album are inevitably linked to the location, the place where the songs were created: a finca on the island of Mallorca. But the films of Eric Rohmer and the songs of Selena and Shania Twain also served as inspiration for his lyrics. Romance, beauty and sexuality. Love in all its complex facets.
